Why No One’s Engaging With Your Facebook Posts

Why No One’s Engaging With Your Facebook Posts

Are your Facebook postings met with a snort? There are no comments or shares…nothing.

It’s a common problem and is often caused by common errors.

Here, I’ll highlight some of them and explain how you can get rid of them.

Engagement on Facebook was always an issue for brands; in recent months, it’s been more complicated than ever. Why? Let’s have a look.

Number One Culprit: The Facebook Algorithm

In the case of Facebook, it is evident: that the organic reach of business pages is consistently decreasing. In the early days of Facebook Pages, they didn’t have to fight to be at the top of the list. Anyone that liked their Page was able to see their posts. In 2012, just 16% of followers saw posts on the Page. In 2016, organic reach fell by a staggering 52 per cent click here.

Without a grasp, it is time to say the goodbyes to engaging. What’s the reason for this significant drop? To answer this question, we’ll examine some figures. There are more than 2.20 billion monthly Facebook users (an increase of 13 per cent year-over-year). Every 60 seconds on Facebook, 510,000 comments are shared, 293,000 statuses are changed, and 136,000 photos are uploaded.

There’s no doubt that there’s a vast number of people using Facebook. It also means that an abundance of information is competing for their attention. To help cut through the noise and give users as enjoyable an experience as possible, Facebook’s algorithm is designed to eliminate the uninteresting and only provide the top quality, most relevant content to its users.

This isn’t the best news for companies. One bright side that you should try to observe can be that if your business has had significant declines in engagement levels, the reason is not necessarily something you did wrong. It’s simply a result of Facebook’s algorithm changes. There are, however, strategies for marketing to beat algorithm changes and remain at the top of the latest newsfeed. If you’re not doing one or more of these things, you’re not doing yourself any good.

You’re Not Posting Consistently

This is a glaring Facebook mistake. As I said, there’s a lot of competition on Facebook, and hundreds of thousands of posts are published every minute. If you’re not consistently updating, it’s unlikely to be noticed. The algorithms of Facebook tend to favour and grant higher Page Authority to Pages with regular updates. My suggestion? Make a schedule for posting and keep it in place with the assistance of scheduling tools such as Meet Edgar, Buffer, or Hootsuite.

It’s now easier than ever to keep your posts consistent and reduce the amount of updating your social media profiles to just 30 minutes each week. I’m a big lover of MeetEdgar. With it, you can assign each update to a category of your choice. In the event of those days or weeks that you are behind in your posting schedule, MeetEdgar will automatically start recycling old posts based on the category.

You’re Not Posting Videos

A (not very secret) secret Facebook algorithm favours postings nearly ultimately by engagement. The greater the engagement your Page gets, the more likely your posts will show up in the news feeds of users. If you want to increase engagement on Facebook, video is the best way to go. Video is the top kind of content to increase engagement followerspro.

In reality, social video can generate 1200 per cent more shares than images and text. If video isn’t a part of your plan, your engagement will suffer because of it. However, it will suffer more if you don’t use live video.
